Earn Your State Producer License Before You Complete Your B.S.B.A.

Even before you complete your business degree at TROY, you鈥檒l have the opportunity to complete your state producer license in Alabama, allowing you to sell insurance products in the state. Most TROY students earn their state producer license in their second semester of the risk management degree program.

The risk management and insurance degree coursework is closely aligned with the Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designations. You鈥檒l be able to work toward these and other designations while pursuing your business degree at TROY.

Dr. Courtney Baggett

Dr. Courtney (Bass) Baggett, Director of the risk management and insurance program, is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics, Finance and Risk Management and Insurance. A 2012 graduate of 罢搁翱驰鈥檚 RMI program, Dr. Baggett was appointed director of the RMI program in August 2019. She earned her Ph.D. at Florida State University in 2016 and holds the CPCU, ASLI and ARM professional designations.

Dr. Ed Pappanastos

Dr. Ed Pappanastos, Professor of RMI and Associate Chair of the Department of Economics, Finance and Risk Management and Insurance, has been on the TROY faculty since 1997. Dr. Pappanastos received his Ph.D. in applied statistics from the University of Alabama. He has received recognition for teaching excellence, including 罢搁翱驰鈥檚 Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching and the Wallace D. Malone, Jr. Distinguished Faculty Award.

Dr. Dan Yang

Dr. Dan Yang, Assistant Professor of Risk Management and Insurance, joined the Sorrell College of Business faculty in 2022. She holds a Ph.D. in risk management and insurance from the University of Georgia and an M.S. in Actuarial science from Temple University. She has worked in national and international accounting firms in China.
