Biographical Sketch: Ms. Gentry's mother, Adelaide Coleman Burkett (1898-Nov. 2001) was an African American school teacher in Dothan. She taught at the Montana Street School (now a Magnet School in the Dothan City School System), retiring May 25, 1969. Ms. Gentry's father, E. V. Burkett, Sr., was a minister.
Scope / Content: Fifty-eight volumes of Ms. Gentry's parents' libraries. Many of her mother's books concern class and school organization and management, others are textbooks used by her students, and others are reference books. Her father's books concern Protestant theology and the mechanics of preaching. Folders contain ephemera.
Processing: All fifty-eight (58) volumes were placed in phase boxes by AWHC staff.
