Director's Welcome
On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you to the School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management (HSTM) at ϱ. Housed in the Sorrell College of Business which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the School of HSTM offers undergraduate and graduate degree options in both traditional and fully online formats.
B.S. in Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management; (online & traditional formats)
B.S. in Sport Management accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA); (online and traditional formats)

The HSTM undergraduate academic program and concentrations offer students an exceptional core education that focuses on the natural synergies of the three related management industries of hospitality, sport and tourism. Undergraduate students further delve into their respective area of interest through current curriculum in the concentration areas all while gaining exceptional service learning experiences and numerous networking opportunities. This meets the mission of the School of HSTM which is “…to prepare students to become future leaders… by providing exemplary integrative and experiential academic preparation….”.
The School of HSTM offers two highly regarded graduate programs in Sport Management, both of which are accredited by COSMA and offer traditional and nontraditional students, a high-quality option of graduate education. For the graduate programs, a point of emphasis remains teaching students to critically examine issues and support solutions with sound research so they are better prepared to solve problems and add value to their future and/or respective organizations.
The School of HSTM is dynamic, continually striving to meet the demands of both higher education and the hospitality, sport and tourism industries all while fostering lasting relationships with HSTM students in and outside of the classroom. This is no small feat and is a testament to the 14 full-time, dedicated faculty members. At TROY, HSTM students will be taught by highly regarded faculty who are well-known for their expertise in a variety of research areas as is evidenced by their numerous international and national presentations and publications. The breadth and scope of the HSTM faculty’s practical experiences include working with the hospitality, sport, and tourism industries in various aspects, such as professional sport, intercollegiate athletics, local and state tourism agencies, numerous resorts, and consulting for public and private organizations to name a few.
The School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management is excited about the future of our programs. We will continue to challenge ourselves and adapt to changes in higher education and the hospitality, sport, and tourism industries. Our primary focus is and will always be our students.
