Colonel Dunagan is the Commander and Professor of Aerospace Studies of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 017 at ÁùºÏ±¦µä. She serves as the Aerospace Studies department head, instructs courses on national security affairs, supervises five faculty and staff members and has overall responsibility for training and mentoring more than 30 students preparing to become Air Force or Space Force officers.

Colonel Dunagan graduated from ÁùºÏ±¦µä in 2000. She entered the Air Force in December 2002 after receiving her commission through the Alabama State University AFROTC program. In 2007, she earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati.  

She began her Air Force career as an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile crew member, instructor, and flight commander at the 91st Missile Wing, Minot AFB, ND. Her next assignment was at the 614th Air and Space Operations Center at Vandenberg AFB, CA as the Chief of Training for the Operations Support Division. She served as Chief of Space Training at Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, DC and then followed on as the Commander, 18th Space Control Squadron, Detachment 1. Finally, Colonel Dunagan transferred to the United States Space Force from the Air Force in October 2020.

Major Kazumi Sims is Operations Flight Commander, Recruiting Officer and Professor of Aerospace Studies of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 017 at ÁùºÏ±¦µä. She was born on Guam and graduated with two Bachelor's Degrees in Bioengineering and Mathematics from Walla Walla College, WA in 2001. She commissioned through the ROTC program at Oregon State University, while earning her Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2004.

Major Sims was previously assigned to the Cyberspace Operations Division, Fifth Air Force, Yokota Air Base, Japan. As the Deputy Director, she advised 14 personnel who were in support of a 129-member staff and supported 4 major regional and bilateral engagements programs. She executed USINDOPACOM's Theater Campaign Plan through Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence programs and cyber operations partnership with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, where she planned, coordinated and oversaw the Fifth Air Force's Command and Control projects. She was also responsible for implementing bilateral command and control programs, guided contingency operations, and provided mission support to the Fifth Air Force Commander in his role as the Commander of the Joint Air Component Coordination Element, Japan.

Previously, as the Division Chief of Civil Engineering under the Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection Division, she developed and fostered bilateral relationships and interoperability to support contingency operations in the Pacific Area of Responsibility and for the defense of Japan. Major Sims was responsible for the planning, programming and execution of the 2.4 billion-dollar host nation funded construction programs for three United States Air Force installations and 53,000 military and civilian personnel. She also administered environmental, real estate, encroachment and strategic basing programs with Pacific Air Forces, United States Forces Japan and the Government of Japan.

Major Sims has held various Civil Engineer positions in Air Forces Central Command, Air Force Global Strike Command, Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the Pacific Air Forces. She is a qualified instructor and the curriculum writer for the Nuclear Weapons Incident Response Training Course, with over 7,000 student contact hours. As a linguist, Major Sims has served as an interpreter for the Chief of Defense Conference, numerous Bilateral Exercises, as well as briefings on behalf of Fifth Air Force, United States Forces Japan and the United Nations Command-Rear. She has worldwide deployments in support of Operations TOMODACHI, ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM'S SENTINAL and Defense of the Arabian Gulf. Prior to her previous assignment, Major Sims was the Commander, Operations Flight, 341st Civil Engineer Squadron at Malmstrom AFB, MT. Some notable awards that Major Sims has earned include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Wing Field Grade Officer of the Year, PACAF Federal Engineer of the Year and Base Federal Woman of the Year.

Major Brian J. Cockroft is the Operations/Recruiting Officer and Professor of Aerospace Studies of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 017 at ÁùºÏ±¦µä University. Major Cockroft enlisted in the Air Force in 2003 as an Aircrew Life Support technician assigned to Whiteman AFB, MO before commissioning in 2013. He has deployed to Southwest Asia twice in support of Operation FREEDOM SENTINEL and as the Centcom J1-Forward. Prior to his current assignment, Major Cockroft was the Operations Officer, 50th Force Support Squadron, Schiever Space Force Base, Colorado.

Technical Sergeant (TSgt) Derick R. Stephens serves as the Office Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) for the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp 17th detachment at ÁùºÏ±¦µä in ÁùºÏ±¦µä, AL. In this capacity he provides administrative support that includes records management, appointment letters, Cadets Pay, Cadets Scholarships, tuition and subsistence pay for 24 cadets assigned to his detachment. As he mentors the cadets, he manages their in-processing, out-processing and the commissioning of cadets. His mentoring will provide superior guidance towards the cadets academic, personal and military future and careers.

TSgt Derek M. Teller is the AFROTC Instructor at Detachment 017, ÁùºÏ±¦µä, AL. In this position, he serves as a key enlisted advisor to the detachment commander on cadet academics, professional development programs and military training. Furthermore, he facilitates cadet counseling and mentorship on personal and professional matters and assists in educating cadets on AFROTC curriculum.

TSgt Teller enlisted in the Air Force in March 2013. During his career, he has held various force protection and leadership positions within nuclear security, law enforcement and fly away security operations. His experiences include multiple deployments, airlift missions and exercises throughout the world supporting all branches of the Department of Defense. His assignments include Incrilik Air Base, Turkey; Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas; and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Prior to this assignment, TSgt Teller was the Raven Program Manager at the 627th Security Forces Squadron where he led and trained his award winning elite team of 18 Phoenix Ravens who protected $10.3B Mobility Aircraft assets at forward deployed locations, assuring mission security, safety and compliance within each international operation.
