The Mathematics Program at ÁùºÏ±¦µä prepares students for exciting careers in mathematical, scientific, and technological fields, as well as preparing future teachers which is our historical role. The curriculum in the Mathematics Major includes theoretical and applied courses that allow students to engage in mathematics through discovery, technology, faculty-mentored research projects, and application to real-world problems. With quality instruction and opportunities for individual growth and development, students majoring in mathematics at ÁùºÏ±¦µä are prepared for future careers, graduate study and life-long learning.

 The Mathematics Program at TROY emphasizes attention to each student and features small classes, quality instruction, effective advising, a departmental Math Club, national mathematics honor society, weekly seminars, a computer lab, and free tutoring.

The job outlook for non-teaching careers for math graduates has never been better. Math-related jobs continue to be included in the CareerCast.com Best Jobs list based on factors such as income, work environment, and employment outlook. Employers of our graduates include Microsoft, NASA, South Central Bell, Bluebell Ice Cream, ALFA, Regions Bank, National Security Agency, CAS/Wyle Group, U.S. Army Engineer Research and Developmental Center, and AFLAC.

For students looking for a teaching career, TROY's Mathematics Education program, where students couple a math major with an Education major, continues to produce excellent and award-winning secondary education teachers. Our graduates are sought after by school districts throughout the region.

In addition to preparing students for successful careers, our mathematics majors are prepared for further study in graduate programs. In addition to the scores of students who go on to earn masters' degrees in Mathematics Education at TROY and other schools, graduates from our math program have gone on to earn Ph.D.'s from universities to include North Carolina State University, Auburn University, University of Alabama Birmingham, University of Houston, and Virginia Tech.
