Do you want to finish your degree in four years?

To accomplish this goal, you need to make sure that you are taking enough credit hours each academic year. Most of our students are aware that 12 credit hours in a semester is considered full-time. However, only taking 12 semester hours in the Fall and the Spring will not get you a degree in four years. Students need to take 15 semester hours in the Fall and the Spring to graduate on time. If you feel like 15 semester hours is too much for you to handle, that is okay. You have other options. You can take 12 hours in the Fall, 12 semester hours in the Spring and then pick up 6 hours in during the Summer. The point is that you need to take thirty semester hours in an academic year to complete a bachelor’s degree in four years. Students who complete 30+ credits in their first year are more likely to graduate on time. Why does this matter? You are more likely to graduate on time, save money and start the career that you love earlier.

According to Nerd Wallet, students incur the approximate cost of $147,000 for an additional year in college. This debt includes paying off your tuition, loan interest over ten years, and loss of your retirement that you could have been saving. We want you to enjoy your time at TROY, but we also want you to be successful when you leave and not carry debt that you could have avoided. Students who complete 30 credits in their first year are more likely to graduate on time! For additional information, call 1-800-414-5756 to be connected with an academic advisor.
